Mexican Trucks to Have Access to the US Despite Opposition from Congress and the American People

According to an amendment to the Fiscal Year 2007 Supplemental Appropriations Bill introduced by Sen. Diane Feinstein, D-Calif ., the Department of Transportation's pilot test should be blocked until the Mexican government authorizes U.S. trucking companies to operate in Mexico.
Indeed it would seem that the Mexican government distrusts the U.S. and would rather see their trucks having access to our country than the reverse. Shouldn't the U.S. tend to question such a one-sided arrangement?
There is also opposition coming from the Teamsters Unions. "The Department of Transportation can't enforce truck safety in the United States, let alone at the southern border," said spokesman Leslie Miller in an interview with World Net Daily. "The Bush administration continues to show a reckless disregard for the will of the Congress and the American people who oppose this illegal pilot project."
Yes the President of the United States does continue to disregard the will of the American people and the Congress on this and many other issues. Interestingly the Union spokesperson was only concerned with the safety of the trucking and not with the potential cargo or with a myriad of other issues that come to the minds of many conscientious Americans.
Then we have the case of Congressman Hunter's Trucking Safety Act which would promote and continue highlighting the importance of the NAFTA Trucking Safety Act. This measure would further empower the NAFTA Agreement and continue promoting the establishment of a regional government as U.S. sovereignty further dissipates.
There are a number of problems with this business of Mexican Trucks entering the U.S. The President of the United States is disregarding the will of the Congress, the Congress is failing to understand and live up to its role according to the Constitution, and the American people are not holding their elected officials to the standard of the Constitution of the United States.
It's long past time to change that.
