Take Back the Media

“Of course the people do not want war. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along whether it is a democracy, a fascist dictatorship, or dictatorship. Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism” Herman Goering-Nazi Leader-Nuremberg Trial

Millions of barrels of oil missing in Iraq

NOW LETS DO THE CALCULATIONS ON 300K BARRELS OF OIL A DAY. THAT IS 109,500,000 a year over the past 5 years and you start to get the feeling that Iraqis and militant groups could not steal that much oil. MAYBE ONE SHOULD SHOULD GET THOSE DICK CHENEY IRAQ OIL FIELD MAPS THAT WERE DECLASSIFIED TO SEE WHICH COMPANIES WERE GETTING WHAT FIELDS AND HOW THIS WAR AND EVERY WAR EVER FOUGHT HAS BEEN ABOUT RESOURCES IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER. WHY WON'T THE MEDIA OR CONGRESS INVESTIGATE THESE THINGS. WELL, YOU GUESSED IT, THEY ARE EITHER GETTING PAID OFF OR THEY HAVE BEEN TOLD TO SHUT UP AND SIT DOWN.

Washington, May 12 (DPA) Up to 300,000 barrels a day of Iraq's declared oil production has gone missing in Iraq over four years and is not accounted for, according to a draft report quoted Saturday by the New York Times Saturday.

The missing oil ranges from 100,000 to 300,000 barrels a day out of the estimated 2 million barrels pumped in Iraq every day, the Times reported.

The draft report was prepared by the US Government Accountability Office, based on statistics from the State Department and the government of Iraq. The final report is to be released next week.

It was not clear what happened to the oil - whether it has been siphoned off in corrupt schemes or is simply an accounting error, with Iraqi government officials over-reporting production amounts.

The US had set a goal for Iraq oil production of 3 million barrels a day. In a related issue, the government has been unable to iron out the controversial issue of distribution of income from oil reserves - the country's major source of wealth.
